The Green Party says it is the victim of an imported dirty tricks campaign.

The party says a pamphlet put out by seven members of the Exclusive Brethren church denouncing its policies, is virtually identical to anti-Green fliers distributed in Tasmania before the Australian federal election.

The pamphlet has identical layout, typeface and the content is similar to the Green Delusion pamphlet circulating in New Zealand.

Greens' co-leader Rod Donald says it defies belief that the Exclusive Brethren group created the pamphlets without overseas inspiration as they reportedly claimed.

One of the seven, Greg Mason, told the Herald on Sunday their pamphlets were created from scratch without overseas inspiration. He refused to comment further.

Donald wants to know who's pulling the strings behind the campaign.
