Matt Slade has qualified for the T37 100m sprint after coming second in his heat. Slade, who has cerebral palsy affecting his right side, was competing in the third of the three heats and his second place automatically qualifies him.
Slade, the defending 200 metre champion, looked relaxed
throughout the race on Friday morning to finish in a slow
time of 12 point 54 seconds.
"I'm not worried about the time, but I would've preferred to have
been in a faster race" said Slade.
"At least I haven't needed to burn up too much energy which is good
with the final being tonight".
His T37 100m final is scheduled for 9.45pm Friday night (NZ
time).
