Athletics: Two Kiwis feature in track and field on Friday.

Matt Slade has qualified for the T37 100m sprint after coming second in his heat. Slade, who has cerebral palsy affecting his right side, was competing in the third of the three heats and his second place automatically qualifies him.

Slade, the defending 200 metre champion, looked relaxed throughout the race on Friday morning to finish in a slow time of 12 point 54 seconds.

"I'm not worried about the time, but I would've preferred to have been in a faster race" said Slade.

"At least I haven't needed to burn up too much energy which is good with the final being tonight".

His T37 100m final is scheduled for 9.45pm Friday night (NZ time).

Athens veteran Terry Faleva'ai gets his chance in the F34 shot put at 9pm Friday night.

Cycling:
Another big day for New Zealand as cycling moves to the road events.

Annemarie Donaldson has come eighth in the HCB 12.7km road time trial on Friday afternoon. She recorded a time of 32:13.21 with the event being won by Rachael Morris of Great Britain.

Fiona Southorn, who came ninth and eight in her track events, has improved to seventh in the LC1 road time trial on Friday night. The gold medal was claimed by Sarah Storey as Great Britain contines to dominate in cycling.

Also in the 24.8km time trial but competing in LC3 is Paula Tesoriero. The double medallist for New Zealand at these Games will be in action from 7.07pm.

The final event is visually impaired cyclist Jayne Parsons, and pilot Annaliisa Farrell, who compete in the tandem B/VI time trial of 24.8km at 7.19pm.

Wheelchair Rugby: The Wheel Blacks get their Beijing campaign underway with a pool game against the tough Great Britain team. The Wheel Blacks are the defending Paralympic champions but are currently ranked fifth in the world and have drawn Australia and Germany in their pool also.
