Legendary All Blacks captain Wayne "Buck" Shelford has revealed he is being treated for a form of cancer known as lymphoma.

Shelford, who played 22 tests for New Zealand between 1987 and 1990, does not want to make any further comment about his treatment and has asked for his privacy to be respected.

Shelford, 49, captained the All Blacks in 14 tests and when he was dropped members of the public started a Bring Back Buck campaign.
