New Zealand's most popular websites have been recognised at the peoples choice NetGuide Web Awards and tvnz.co.nz was among the winners.
The NetGuide awards invite the public to vote for their favourite Kiwi websites.
tvnz.co.nz took the best high-speed internet category.
Executive Producer Simon Elder says the win is recognition from the public that the website is heading in the right direction with its expanding array of video content now available on demand.
"People want their television when it suits them and through tvnz.co.nz and TVNZ ondemand they can have that. It is an exciting time for the online industry and TVNZ's "Inspiring On Every Screen" strategy is allowing us to explore the possibilities," says Elder.
Virtual online city Smile City scooped the site of the year award, kicking TradeMe out of a spot it has held for two years.
But it wasn't all bad news for the perennial favourite as TradeMe picked up awards for best motoring site, best real estate site and of course, best trading site.
There was a rare dead heat in the best Financial Services category, with the honours being shared by ASB Bank and Sorted .
Other winners included NZ Dating for best social networking site, unsurprisingly Google won for best search engine and the best blog award went to Breakfast media commentator Russell Brown's Public Address.
