What's the goss?

Flicking through the women's mags this week it seemed to be a case of deja vu with the same old celebrities doing pretty much the same old things.

Brad and Angelina, Jennifer and Vince, Tom and Katie, Sienna and Jude and Kate Moss's drug scandal all played their part once again this week - at least there were no Kirstie Alley stories!

The covers may promise you something new and exciting but it all seems to be falling a bit flat - we need new scandals!

And scandal is what I thought I was going to get when I glanced at the cover of the Woman's Weekly.

The cover screams "Desperate Housewives Shocking Sex Change" with a pic of the show's Emmy winning star Felicity Huffman. I furiously flicked to the article to be faced with a story about Huffman's latest movie role where she plays a transsexual - very misleading and though I'm sure the movie's great, not quite the goss I was looking for.

New Idea's cover story gave me quite a giggle - Meg Ryan seducing Jack Osbourne and pissing off his mum Sharon. I would desperately love the story to be true just to see sweet Meg Ryan and feisty Sharon Osbourne having it out.

In Brad and Angelina news WW has Angelina using a voodoo curse to win Brad's affections, WD has the pair signing a pre-nup in which they vow to have their own kids as well as adopting, and NI has them in a race to try and beat Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn down the aisle

The next instalment of the Katie Holmes Tom Cruise love saga has Holmes saying she's quitting acting to be a stay-at-home mum. This is probably good for the kid and, well, Hollywood's not really missing out because Batman's love interest aside she has not exactly cracked the Hollywood A list since leaving Dawson's Creek.

On the local front

Local lasses grace the cover of two of the ladies mags this week and both are talking babies.

Woman's Day has Lana Coc Kroft announcing she's expecting a "miracle" baby after cheating death last year. The mum of two is finding this pregnancy a little harder than the others as this time round she's getting all the glories of pregnancy mums to be don't want - morning sickness, acne, fatigue.

Rosita Vai is on the cover of WW with her long term boyfriend. The gist of the story is she's in love, he's in love, they're both very happy and are likely to get married and have babies at some point.

NI takes a look at some Kiwi boys who have been getting a little violent.

McLeod's Daughters star Aaron Jeffrey has been charged with assaulting his wife and threatening to kill her - she's left him. Dancing With The Stars judge Brendan Cole lost his temper with a cameraman after getting voted off the British version of the show, and of course Russell Crowe, our most famous angst-ridden star, has been arguing publicly with his Mrs.

In brief.

  • Two of the mags have the first pics of Heath Ledgers and Michelle Williams' baby girl - even if they are just the top of her head.
  • Sienna Miller and Jude Law may be back together, but do we care?
  • Kate Moss has been caught boozing again just days after getting out of rehab.
  • In the world's worst kept plastic surgery secret Victoria Beckham lied about her boob job - court papers revealed the sordid truth.
  • America's Sweetheart Jennifer Aniston shows her saucy side getting her top off for the cover of GQ.
  • Supermodel Heidi Klum appears in a lingerie catwalk show in bra and knickers without an ounce of baby weight in sight, just two months after giving birth.
