Canadian singer Shania Twain has gained approval to build a home near Wanaka.
Twain bought Mototapu Station last year and applied for resource consent to build a one storey house.
Independent commissioner Trevor Sheils has allowed the resource consent to proceed.
Earlier this year a Queenstown Lakes District Council planner
recommended that the consent be turned down. But changes to the
size and scope of the building satisfied the commissioner.
The house will be built in the Mototapu Valley. Earthworks will
mitigate its effect on the surrounding environment.
