A south Auckland pharmacist has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for making fraudulent claims.
Owner and operator of Dawson Road Pharmacy in Flat Bush, Andrew Pellowe, pleaded guilty to 47 charges of using a document for pecuniary advantage.
The Ministry of Health's business unit brought the charges after finding Pellowe had sent in about 8,000 claims between 2003 and 2005, worth more than $200,000.
Pellowe has repaid the $200,000 back and has also paid $50,000 towards the investigation costs. He has has been granted leave to apply for home detention.
