A plan to rid the upper South Island of the bee parasite varroa under a programme of baiting and poisoning wild bee colonies, has the full support of the region's horticulturalists.
The government has allocated $1.25 million for what it is calling an elimination programme, on top of the more than $3 million it will spend on a varroa management programme.
