The King of Tonga is back in New Zealand for more medical treatment less than a month after his last visit.

King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV was in Auckland often last year to be close to his medical team while avoiding direct contact with protestors outside his house demanding political change.

There has been continuous speculation about the King's health but those close to him say he doing well for his age and fully aware of what is going on.

His private secretary says the king is doing fine and resting, with more tests - including blood and heart tests -scheduled for next week when more would be known.

The Honourable Nobele Maafu says it is usual for the King to travel to New Zealand and people should remember he is 87-years-old.
