Lost trampers found safe

  • Tourists lost in Waikato bush

Seven international trampers are safe and well after spending several hours lost in dense bush near Raglan in Waikato on Wednesday night.

Police say the tourists were in touch with search and rescue personnel by cellphone and searchers went into the bush to walk out with the group.

The trampers were found just before midnight about 500 metres off the track.

Police are critical of the group for being ill-prepared with only light clothing and without food or torches.
