The prospect of travel disruptions for New Zealanders taking a break across the ditch is growing.

Stoppages by Qantas engineers now look to be unstoppable, with more than 1700 planning an overtime ban from Wednesday.

House of Travel's Brent Thomas says the action comes at one of the busiest times of the year.

Thomas says his company alone has several thousand clients in Australia at the moment.
