There was chaos in the capital on Saturday as two opposing extremist groups confronted each other.
The National Front, known for its extreme right stance, gathered for its annual general meeting outside parliament preaching a policy of one nation, two cultures and no foreigners.
"It's New Zealand for New Zealanders. We own it. We've got a rich little country we are smart enough, we've got have enough industry to support ourselves," says spokesperson Sid Wilson.
It was met with overwhelming protests from anti-fascist groups, many wearing masks fearing they would be exposed. They say photos of them and where they live are being circulated among right-wing groups.
But the allegations were denied by right-wing groups such as The New Right, who were also at the rally.
The National Front says its AGM is an exercise of rights.
"We came here to do this peacefully and to make a political statement," says Wilson.
It was a statement that provoked a strong reaction, and while only one arrest was made a large contingent of police was needed to control the crowd.
