New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless is down to the final three in the hit American show Celebrity Duets.

In the show, which is executive produced by American Idol judge Simon Cowell, professional singers team up with non-singing celebrities to perform duets in front of a live studio audience, a panel of judges and viewers who get to vote them off.

Lawless has been singing with the greats, like Smokey Robinson and Dionne Warwick. And she says all of the people she has sung with during the show have taught her something.

On Friday afternoon she sang for her life, and the chance to donate $100,000 to the charity of her choice, in the show's final.

US correspondent Tim Wilson spoke to Lawless about what she thinks of the show her lawyer told her to avoid like the plague.
