Israeli warplanes have bombed Beirut's International Airport in Lebanon, striking the airport's runway while Lebanese anti-aircraft batteries fired frantically at invading planes.
The airport has been closed indefinitely as two runways were cratered in the attack.
The bombing of the airport comes after almost a day of Israeli bombardments in southern Lebanon, which have reportedly killed at least 19 civilians and one Lebanese soldier.
At least eight Israeli soldiers have also been killed.
The Israeli military action follows the capture of two Israeli soldiers by the Lebanese Shi'ite Hizbollah movement in a border operation yesterday.
And latest reports from the Israeli Army say the Israeli city of Nahariya is now being hit by rockets fired from Lebanon.
Lebanon fires rockets
At least two Katyusha rockets slammed into the northern city of Nahariya on Thursday, wounding three civilians.
The Lebanese guerrilla group Hizbollah said it had fired 60 rockets at Nahariya, a coastal city south of the Lebanese border.
The Israeli army said Hizbollah had also fired a number of rockets and mortars at other areas in northern Israel.
One rocket landed in the Israeli town of Zarit, wounding one civilian. Another projectile damaged an Israeli airforce base near Mount Meron.
Israel vowed on Wednesday a severe response to Hizbollah's
cross-border attack.
