Cyclists think they will be worse off under a National-led Government, according to a new poll.

The Cycling Advocates Network (CAN) has just published a survey suggesting only about 27% of all candidates support better provision for cycling.

Spokesman Stephen McKernon says Alliance, Green, Labour and Maori candidates are more interested in supporting cycling than National's.

He says National's policy does not emphasise sustainable transport, and it's possible the party would threaten advances for cycling.

CAN conducted the poll by email and found 166 of 520 candidates polled supported more pro-cycling measures.

McKernon says the group has no intention of supporting one party over another, but that the poll clearly shows where the pro-cycling vote would be best placed.
