NZIER survey results reveal good and bad
Good and bad news from the latest NZIER Survey of Business Opinion.  The good news is confidence is improving.  A net 19% expect the economy to get worse.  A big improvement from a net 44% who were negative in June.  However here's the bad news.  The survey shows a rise in inflationary pressures which adds further weight to the argument an interest rate rise could be on the way.

Packaging reduction progress report
Studies show 93% of materials we use never end up in saleable products and that 80% of what we produce is discarded after a single use.  The resulting inefficient use of resources generates far more land and clean fill waste than desirable.  The New Zealand Packaging Accord Initiative was set up in 2004 with the aim of cutting down on wasteful packaging.  On Tuesday night the board presented a progress report to MP's. 

Entrepreneur of the Year finalists
Wednesday night is a very big night for the five Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalists.  Ahead of the event David Young talked to two finalists.
