NZIER survey results reveal good and bad
Good and bad news from the latest NZIER Survey of Business
Opinion. The good news is confidence is improving. A
net 19% expect the economy to get worse. A big improvement
from a net 44% who were negative in June. However here's the
bad news. The survey shows a rise in inflationary pressures
which adds further weight to the argument an interest rate rise
could be on the way.
Packaging reduction progress report
Studies show 93% of materials we use never end up in
saleable products and that 80% of what we produce is discarded
after a single use. The resulting inefficient use of
resources generates far more land and clean fill waste than
desirable. The New Zealand Packaging Accord Initiative was
set up in 2004 with the aim of cutting down on wasteful
packaging. On Tuesday night the board presented a progress
report to MP's.
