About the show

The reality television phenomenon Shock Treatment is back with an all-new series on TV2 and this time its more extreme and more shocking than ever.

After seeing the first series of Shock Treatment, the 12 current New Zealand personalities think they know the drill. They believe they're going on a body and mind detox in an exotic location, with the chance to win $5,000 for their chosen charity.

But Shock Treatment takes these stars on a different kind of life-changing journey - this time they must pair up to take on the toughest jobs in the most remote locations throughout the world for seven gruelling days. If they give up and throw in the towel, their charity gets nothing.

Instead of navel gazing and soul-searching, they will be put to work alongside real working people in some of the hardest, most physically and mentally demanding jobs in the world.

From milking yaks in Mongolia, fighting terminal oil fires in Texas, to hunting giant anacondas in the Amazon jungle, our New Zealand participants face physical and mental challenges they never knew existed.

"This series was much harder than series one. We had to up the ante because the celebrities thought they knew what to expect," says producer Greg Heathcote.

Shock Jock DJ Iain Stables (NZ Idol) and dancer Candy Lane (Dancing With The Stars) are the first pair to take on the task. They find out they're heading to Jamaica to be drafted into an extreme police training camp.

For a self-confessed luxury hotel girl, agreeing to a mystery journey on Shock Treatment was a big leap. "I'm used to the comfort of life, so this was a real challenge," says Candy. "I had to go out and buy sports shoes. I didn't own any of those, I've only got heels!"
