Newcastle could be bought by the World's most infamous man, Chelsea has made an astronomical bid for Kaka and plenty more as the gossip season heats up on tvnz.co.nz

Newcastle United - The Bin Laden Connection

A wealthy construction company run by the family of terrorist Osama bin Laden has emerged as a shock front-runner to buy Newcastle United, a source with links to the club claimed on Monday.

The Saudi Binladen Group, whose chief executive is Osama's half-brother, Bakr bin Laden, and which was founded by their father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Laden, is said to be considering a 300million plus pound deal to buy the club and then carry out a lucrative redevelopment of St James' Park and land surrounding the ground.

Although the Bin Laden family publicly distanced itself from the founder of Al-Qaeda years before he claimed responsibility for the September 11 atrocities in 2001, any takeover would be football's most controversial yet, as well as taking the number of foreign-owned teams in the Premier League to 10, or half of England's biggest clubs. Real Madrid are ready to launch a 70million pound bid for Cristiano Ronaldo in the next 48 hours and have urged the Manchester United star to hand in a transfer request.

Real Madrid - Reuben de la Red in hot demand

Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa could soon be locked in a three-way fight for Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red.

The Barclays Premier League trio are understood to have made enquiries about the availability of de la Red who was part of Spain's victorious European Championship squad.

Real sold de la Red to neighbours Getafe last summer for 2.4m pounds but exercised their option to bring de la Red back to the Berbanbeu for 3.6m pounds just 12 months later.

Real now rate the 23-year-old at around 15m pounds.  (Daily Mail)

Chelsea - Outlandish bid for Kaka

Chelsea have made an 'astronomical' bid for AC Milan star Kaka, according to the club's vice president Adriano Galliani.

Sportsmail revealed last month that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was prepared to bankroll a world record breaking 60m pound bid for the Brazil midfielder.

But Galliani revealed yesterday that Chelsea's huge offer has failed to convince Milan to sell, despite a bleak financial forecast following the Italian side's failure to qualify for the Champions League.  (Daily Mail)

Wigan - far too cool

Wigan manager Steve Bruce has pulled out of the race for Croatia's Euro 2008 striker Ivan Klasnic - because it is too cold for him in the Premier League.

Bruce's medical team looked into hit man Klasnic's background and found out that he needs to play in a warm climate because of a kidney problem . (Daily Mail)

Arsenal - can't compete

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the burden of meeting the payments for the 360million pound Emirates Stadium means the club will need to sell a big-name player annually for the next 17 years.

The financial situation at Arsenal is likely to force Wenger to sell Emmanuel Adebayor this summer, while the future of Alexander Hleb is also in doubt.

Wenger was also forced to concede the days of Arsenal competing with Manchester United and Chelsea for signatures of the world's biggest stars are gone. (Daily Mirror)
