A south Auckland business says it is losing thousands of dollars a day as it waits for its 0800 number and facsimile to be reconnected.
Ten thousand business and domestic customers lost their Telecom, and in some cases Eftpos connections, on Thursday night after a fault caused by a software problem at Telecom's Pukekohe exchange.
A Telecom spokesman says a handful of people with newer numbers are still on hold, with most reconnected last weekend.
But Steve Rigby from OHUG Power Equipment says he is shocked the problem still isn't resolved.
Rigby says so far his business has lost around $25,000 - $30,000 in potential business deals and is worried about the long term impact.
He says so far they have only been offered around $30 credit on their bill as compensation.
On Saturday Telecom said anyone without a landline for 24 hours would receive a month's free rental and it would consider compensation for increased cellphone use.
The Auckland Chamber of Commerce is asking questions about why the fault is taking so long to repair.
Chamber chief executive Michael Barnett says he wants to know "from the very top of Telecom" why the outage happened, and why it took so long to fix.
"Specifically, I need Mr Reynolds (Telecom CEO Paul Reynolds) to get rid of a nagging fear I have that his company, and its subcontractors, didn't pull out all stops to fix the problem as quickly as humanly possible," says Barnett.
