A paraponter has died in a crash on the Port Hills in Christchurch.
Witnesses say the man's chute collapsed and he fell 20 metres to the ground.
The 44-year-old was conscious when paramedics arrived but died before reaching hospital.
The Port Hills area is popular with paraponters and hang-gliders.
