Hugging for a cause not that hard

If a complete stranger tried to give you a hug on Saturday they might have been taking part in a nationwide random acts of kindness day.

In Auckland and Wellington, charity Discovery for Teens' National Hugging Day got off to a quiet start.

It seems the secret to a good hug is to put your arms out and people will come. And they do. In no time everybody and everything gets hugged and squeezed. There's pet hugs, man hugs, group hugs, even extreme hugging, all with rave reviews.

And even for the non-cuddly, embracing National Hugging Day can make your day just that little bit snugglier.
