The jury will go out on Thursday to decide the fate of the south
Auckland businessman charged with murdering a teenage tagger.
Bruce Emery is arguing self-defence, but the prosecution says he
deliberately stabbed 15-year-old Pihema Cameron.
The Crown on Wednesday argued that the teen's bloody death was the combination of an angry man and a lethal weapon.
Both sides agree Emery stabbed Cameron.
The Crown says he chased Cameron and his friend, then thrust the knife at him, but the defence argues the pair lured Emery into an alleyway and he used the knife in self-defence.
"If he's as angry as the Crown says, then why isn't it a frenzied attack," says defence lawyer Chris Comeskey.
Comeskey says Emery is a family man who was taken by surprise, so grabbing a knife made sense.
"He's not a mug, he knows that he may encounter danger out there."
Comeskey told the court it's more likely Cameron lunged at Emery and onto the knife he was holding.
But the Crown says Emery was more deliberate in every sense, washing the knife and hiding it under the mattress, not calling for help, and when he was interviewed by the police he never mentioned the paint the defence claims was sprayed in his face.
The judge will sum up on Thursday morning, before the jury retires to decide Emery's fate.
