A Kapiti Community Board member has apologised for turning up to a meeting wearing a mock Ku Klux Klan uniform.
Vice Chairman of the Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board, Dale Evans, caused quite a stir with his costume last week, something he says he never expected or intended.
Evans says it was meant to be a political satire on Hoodie Day, but realises there was not a great deal of intelligence behind the choice of costume because of its association with racial hatred.
He has apologised to the council and to anyone else who took offence.
Evans apology was accepted by the Mayor.
