As Australia's Prime Minister cops flak over alleged changes to his page in an online-encylopedia, Helen Clark has had references to herself on the site protected.

John Howard denies removing potentially damaging details from his Wikipedia site.

But Helen Clark's page has come under some scrutiny of its own.

The open style of Wikipedia has been too tempting for some, who have posted what censors refer to as 'regular childish vandalism'.

They have removed statements such as 'Helen Clark looks and talks like a man' from the Prime Minister's page.

As well as numerous swipes and speculation about her sexuality, there have also been comments like 'Helen Clark is the most boring person I have ever seen.'

The Prime Minister's page has now been protected so incorrect or defamatory statements can no longer be added.
