Murder accused Nai Yin Xue, 53, made a very brief appearance in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday.

He entered no plea and made no application for bail.

He will again be held in custody until a pre-depositions hearing at the end of next month.

Xue is charged with murdering his wife Anan Liu.

He was brought back to New Zealand by US immigration officials after being captured by Chinese immigrants in Atlanta, who recognised him from the show America's Most Wanted, five months after he fled New Zealand.

He had been on the run since abandoning his daughter, three-year-old Qian Xun Xue, nicknamed Pumpkin, at Melbourne's Southern Cross railway station last September.

A few days later the body of his 27-year-old wife Anan Liu was found inside the boot of one of his cars outside their home in the Auckland suburb of Mt Roskill.
