Tributes are flooding in for long-serving Christchurch City councillor Graham Condon, who was killed in a road crash on Saturday morning.

The 58-year-old died while riding his three-wheeled bike on Lower Styx Road, in Brooklands, north of the city at about 10:30am

His bike was struck by a car.

Condon was elected to the council in 1995 and was standing for the Shirley-Papanui ward next month.

He represented New Zealand many times at the Paralympic Games, and won at least three gold medals.

Condon custom-made his own wheelchairs for competition and took part in this year's Race to Akaroa.

Christchurch Mayor Garry Moore says Condon was one of the most positive people he knew and and his death is a tragic loss to the community.

Condon is survived by his wife Kath and children Craig and Andrea.
