Police have been called in to investigate whether Act Leader Rodney Hide has broken election advertising rules, simply by wearing his yellow jacket.
The Electoral Commission has referred the infamous jacket to police because it didn't display who had authorised it as an election advertisement.
Surprisingly, the complaint was made by a member of Hide's own party, who wanted to highlight problems with the Electoral Finance Act.
"The government was warned about it, and here you have a situation where because I was wearing a yellow jacket with Act on it, the police are going to have to spend their resources investigating," says Hide.
The jacket could cost Hide up to $10,000 in fines.
