A reunion in Dunedin on Saturday brought back magic memories for children of the 1970s and 1980s as iconic children's television show Playschool celebrated 30 years since it was first filmed.

Playschool was based on the BBC show of the same name. It started filming in Dunedin in 1975 and was hosted there for nearly 15 years.

"...a programme for New Zealand children, and the thing that we really wanted to show was that adults could work very well together and that toys could also be your best friends," says Playschool producer Lorraine Isaacs.

The toys are as memorable as ever.

Humpty, Manu and Big Ted are carefully tucked away at Te Papa, Little Ted is looking a little worse for wear after losing his head, but there's no sign of Jemima.

"If anyone out there knows where she is, well, I think Humpty would really like to have a few words with her!" says former Playschool presenter Jayashree Panjabi.
