Bag ladies educate community
Jan 3, 2005 8:35 AM

A group of women from Golden Bay have launched a campaign aimed at educating shoppers about the environmental damage caused by plastic bags.

The Golden Bay Bag Ladies kicked off the campaign on Takaka Hill, by giving away cloth bags to residents.

Bag lady Nicola Basham says they have had a great response so far, and says they hope to make their community the first to use eco-friendly alternatives to plastic bags.
