Fashion 08: Annah Stretton

The Rosemount Australian Fashion Week was held at the end of April. Only a few select New Zealand designers were invited to participate. Annah Stretton was one of these designers. Get a sneak preview of what's to come this summer to make sure your wardrobe doesn't end up like Betty's.

The newest collection from Annah Stretton Summer 08/09 is entitled Don't Take Your Love to Town.

Recently unveiled on the catwalk at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, the collection has garnered rave reviews and strong sales. Katie Newton of the Sunday Star Times called it "[a] singular, precise vision... a succession of modern, feminine looks".

These looks embrace the 1920's, Art Deco and everything that was spectacular about the Great Gatsby Era celebrating beauty and youth after the dark years of war.

Flappers, in their long strings of  pearls, hair cut into boyish Eaton crops, danced the night away in their rolled down stockings and short skirts.

Styling moves from borrowed boys' tunics through to long fluid dresses, bias cut to enhance a feminine silhouette. Relive this period and indulge...

As with every season, Annah's love of colour, texture and attention to detail is apparent with custom knitted and beaded fabrics. Garments are classically cut and collections always feature gorgeous dresses and great separates.
