Beloved by many a fan as Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson's had a fairly busy acting life - despite his young age.
Born in London in England on 13 May 1986, Pattinson became involved in amateur theatre through the Barnes Theatre Company.
After some initial backstage experience, he took on acting roles and caught the attention of an acting agent in a production of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles - it was this springboard which pushed him into looking for professional roles; but not before trying his hand at modelling.
Pattinson later told New York Magazine: "When I first started I was quite tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs, because it was during that period where the androgynous look was cool. Then, I guess, I became too much of a guy, so I never got any more jobs. I had the most unsuccessful modeling career."
It was in 2005 when he started to head towards the stratosphere, playing Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter Films - consequently, he was named that year's British Star of Tomorrow by The Times newspaper.
Interested in music, he's told the LA Times "Music is my back-up plan if acting fails" but with three more films as Edward Cullen and other assorted roles - including Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, that back up plan could be a long way off.
