With the anticipation around New Moon building we thought we'd do a little something for those who have not read the books.
Twilight's focus is on Bella and her relationships with the Cullens, but New Moon expands the cast of characters. There is of course the emergence of the wolf pack and Jacob being established as a central character, but there is also the creepy ancient vampire clan the Volturi.
In tomorrow's instalment we'll tell you all about the wolves, but today the vampires take centre stage...
Aro
A very old vampire (born in 1300 BC), Aro is one of the leaders of
the much feared Volturi. He has the rather impressive gift of
"tactile telepathy", where he can read all the thoughts a person
has ever had - just by touching them.
While Aro conducts himself with a polite and almost cheery disposition, he is considered a very manipulative "collector" of vampires with special talents.
In New Moon he is played by British actor Michael Sheen (a Welsh vampire anyone?) who is no stranger to vampire flicks having starred in Underworld with his then partner Kate Beckinsale. New Moon director Chris Weitz is giving Sheen a big thumbs up for his performance saying he is gracious, cultured but mildly insane!
Caius
Caius is one of the three Volturi leaders but is easily
identifiable as he is the cruellest of the group.
Often argumentative Caius is ultimately subversive to Aro and Marcus, the other Volturi leaders. Caius has a phobia of werewolves due to an experience many years ago and since then has spearheaded the Volturi's efforts to wipe the species out.
He is described as having extremely pale, almost translucent skin and equally as light, long hair. He wears a long black cloak the same as Marcus and Aro.
Caius is played by Jamie Campbell Bower who is known for his
role in Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street and is set to
play the young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows.
Marcus
Marcus makes up the trio of ancients who lead the Volturi. He is
extremely apathetic due to losing his mate Didyme.
Marcus has the ability to recognise relationships which proves to be an extremely valuable gift. He is described as having extremely pale, almost translucent skin with long jet black hair. He wears a black cloak identical to the other Volturi leaders.
Marcus is played by Christopher Heyerdahl.
Jane
Do not be fooled by Jane's diminutive, child-like appearance. A
member of the infamous Volturi Guard, she is capable of inflicting
an illusion of excruciating pain on her victims. And she enjoys
doing so. Because of this, Jane and her brother, Alec, are prized
Volturi "weapons".
Child star Dakota Fanning is playing Jane in one of her more grown up roles to date. If her creepy appearance in the trailers and publicity shots are anything to go by she could be a very good choice.
Alec
Twin brother of Jane, Alec is another of the high-ranking Volturi
guards.
His special power is being able to cut off people's senses i.e. make them deaf or blind. Unlike his twin, he is able to inflict his power on multiple people at once.
Alec is played by Cameron Bright who starred alongside Nicole
Kidman in the controversial film, Birth.

I am a Twilight Addict for sure! I am Team Jakeward all the way, lol. I reckon Eclipse should be the best version of all for movies... but the books kick butt much more! But if you've read the books, I don't think it matters at all whether this one will live up to expectations, cause the stories have already captured our hearts!

Well what can I say, I am a total Twilight addict! I love the two films so far- but love the books a whole lot more! They NEED to make Breaking Dawn into 2 films. There are just sooo many amazing parts to it that so many [important] things will end up getting missed out! It is kinda essential that it's made into two films! Please, make two films!

I ahve to say that Jacob is who I would go with because of his looks but he hasn't got the personality that Edward has. If I were Bella and Jacob had the personality of Edward you would have the best guy in the world!!
