Sharon Fergusson

Sharon trained in journalism at Waikato Polytechnic and worked for various lifestyle programmes for nearly a decade, including many TVNZ productions. In1998 she moved to TVNZ's News and Current Affairs department. Two years later she went to TV3, but returned to ONE News in 2005 as producer of Tonight. Sharon has been a ONE News reporter for the past three years. After taking maternity leave, Sharon returned to TVNZ at the beginning of 2008 to join the TVNZ 7 team.
Sharon's career has taken her to different parts of the world, and highlights include reporting from Antarctica, the Sub-Antarctic Islands, Kermadec Islands, Japan and from around the Pacific.
A memorable moment as a journalist for Sharon was being present at the discovery of a bird species that was thought to have been extinct for more than a century. Other memorable moments include reporting on the Asian Tsunami and 9/11.
