Kiwiana is a light-hearted look at the
growing craze for 'kiwiana' or things which represent the New
Zealand way of life.
From film-makers to fashion designers, museum curators to comedians, everyone is joining in the search for our national icons.
It's a wide-ranging look at the icons of everyday Kiwi culture includes media personalities Gary McCormick, Ginette McDonald (Lynn of Tawa) and John Clarke (Fred Dagg); exhibition curators Richard Wolfe and John Perry; film director Peter Jackson; fashion designer Marilyn Sainty; artists Lisa Reihana and Judy Darragh; and many other well-known New Zealanders.
Kiwiana: Kiwi As takes another journey through
Kiwiana, the things that represent the New Zealand way of life.
It's an entertaining and informative look at the popular "icons" of
New Zealand's unique culture.
Complete in itself this documentary explores many aspects of the 'Kiwi" way of life, including how we talk, how we eat, and the importance of our rural history.
There are lively contributions from personalities such as the late Angela D'Audney and the inimitable Gary McCormick, film director Ian Mune, pop commentator Chris Knox, pop star Bic Runga, and the Ponsonby Pie Man, to name but a few.
Kiwiana starts Thursday 14th October at 7pm on TVNZ Heartland.
