TV ONE TO AIR TEAM NZ’S FIRST HEAD-TO-HEAD RACE OF THE AMERICA’S CUP

12 July 2013

America’s Cup Special, TV ONE: 7:00am, Sunday 14 July

The first contested race of the America’s Cup competition featuring Team New Zealand will be aired live and in full on TV ONE this Sunday.

Emirates Team New Zealand is set to line up against Luna Rossa this Sunday morning NZT in a round robin race – the first time the Kiwis have faced an opposing team on the water since the competition got underway on 8 July NZT.

Presented by Peter Williams from TVNZ’s Auckland studios, the sports special will cross live to San Francisco Bay for commentary by ONE NEWS Yachting Correspondent Martin Tasker and yachting personality Peter Lester.

Jeff Latch, Head of TV ONE and TV2, says: “We’re delighted to give viewers a special opportunity to follow America’s Cup action live on TV as Team New Zealand goes head-to-head for the first time in the competition.”

TV ONE’s Breakfast will take live crosses from Team New Zealand’s subsequent round robin races on 22 and 24 July. Fans who want to follow those races in full can see it streamed live at tvnz.co.nz/americas-cup.
