The future of TVNZ 7

TVNZ has been privileged to launch and develop TVNZ 7 over the past three years, providing New Zealanders with unique perspectives on the issues of today in ways that we cannot otherwise provide through our core channels of TV ONE and TV2.

Given the funding originally allocated by the government is not to be renewed, TVNZ has made the decision to close the channel in June 2012.

TVNZ 7 has a variety of projects planned for 2011 including the launch of the TVNZ 7 Learning Hub at Te Papa on Thursday 7 April, and the Spotlight on Science and Technology in cooperation with the Royal Society in August.

The Raising Children in New Zealand Campaign will kick off later in 2011 with partners Barnardoes, Plunket, the Lion Foundation and the Ministry of Social Development.
