A Boeing 777-300ER painted all black will touch down for the first time in New Zealand tomorrow at Auckland International Airport.
Fourteen expert painters were used to give the plane its black finish as well as the overlaid silver fern that extends across the rear of the aircraft up its tale.
Redecoration of the Air New Zealand plane is part of its sponsorship of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union and the All Blacks.
The aircraft's flight plan is dependent on weather conditions but is expected to land at 9am after a round trip around Auckland.
If landing on runway 23L, the plane will approach Auckland over Browns Bay at around 8.40am before tracking to Whenuapai, then over the Harbour Bridge at a lower altitude. At Music Point it will turn right towards Mangere Bridge and then on to the airport.
If landing on runway 05R, the plane will approach Auckland
between Waiheke Island and Motatapu Island at around 8.40am, turn
right over Browns Island, over the Harbour Bridge towards Te Atatu
before turning over the Balmoral area towards the airport.
