A conveyor belt fire caused a brief evacuation of the passenger terminal at Auckland International Airport on Tuesday.
Fire crews were called to the airport just after 10pm NZT, after reports of smoke coming from a conveyor belt in a baggage handling area.
Airport communications manager Richard Llwellyn told ONE News that one outgoing international flight was affected, but left Auckland on time.
It is thought that a cigarette butt caused the fire after one was found smoldering.
Smoke and the smell of burning was coming from Air New Zealand's cargo area.
Emergency services have since cleared the scene.
