Tourism in the Cook Islands is getting a boost from a total solar eclipse, which happens around sunrise on Monday morning around sunrise.
During it, the moon will completely cover the sun.
Astronomers from all over the world have gathered to see it, even though it lasts less than six minutes.
Astrophysicist Holly Gilbert says it's an exciting moment for scientists.
The eclipse is too far to the northeast to be visible from New Zealand.
It lasts five minutes 20 seconds, and a narrow corridor 11,000 kilometres across the South Pacific will be plunged into darkness.
It coincidentally fits in with the playing of the football World Cup final in South Africa, the umbra touching the earth 14 minutes before kickoff and lifting 37 minutes after the finish.
