Almost 2,000 people stranded in Auckland while their cruise ship undergoes repairs are set to leave on Wednesday night, four days late.

The luxury P & O cruise ship, Aurora, has been forced to stop half way through its three-month round-the-world tour for engine repairs.

The delay means the mostly British passengers are missing out on stopovers in several other New Zealand ports, with the ship heading straight for Honolulu.
