Meet the hosts - Marc Ellis

When Marc Ellis heard Top Town was coming back, he was so enthused he offered to swim home from South America to host the show.

"Top Town was always high entertainment, and it was taken incredibly seriously by the teams even though it was so bizarre!" he says.

"I remember watching when I was a kid, it was such a cool show, I really wanted to be a part of it."

Marc is fired up about fronting the new-look Top Town which he says will be "Pretty damn good, with lots of high energy and high spills". And like the old days, once again the teams are "Right into it", which for Marc is the key to its success.

Marc first hit our screens in 1996, when he starred together with Matthew Ridge in Ansett New Zealand Time of Your Life.

Marc and Matthew had another huge hit in their next series, Fresh Up In The Deep End, and continued their antics together on Game of 2 Halves and the Rocky Road series.

Marc's irreverent antics and hard-case humour saw him voted Favourite Male Personality in the Woman's Day People's Choice Awards two years running, in 2006 and 2007.

It's been a roller-coaster ride for the former All Black, Warrior and Kiwi league star. His madcap personality sometimes outshines his rugby career, but Ellis still holds an All Black record for his six tries against Japan in the 1995 World Cup.

Marc made the successful transition from sportsman to businessman in 2000, with the launch of his juice company Charlie's.

His sensible streak continued with a fairy-tale marriage to Argentinean model Agustina Mon in 2006.
