Meet the hosts - Hayley Holt
When dancing star Hayley Holt was asked to host Top Town, her
first reaction was "Hell, yes!" But her being in London for the UK
series of Strictly Come Dancing clashed with the Top Town dates,
until an unexpected elimination gave her the "Silver lining" she
needed to fly home and join the Top Town set.
"It was a bit of an undertaking, as I had to fly to New Zealand and back in 10 days, and go straight into a show. But it was worth every minute of flying," Hayley says.
For Hayley, the highlights were the small town pride and camaraderie that she experienced from the teams, and also working alongside co-hosts Marc Ellis and Mikey Havoc.
"It's amazing that in this day and age people can still get together and rally around each other with such community spirit. And working with Marc and Mikey was just hilarious. I would sit behind the camera and just laugh while they were commentating. I don't think any job is going to quite compare!"
A ballroom dancer since she was seven, Hayley was New Zealand Ballroom champion, a semi-finalist in Blackpool and a finalist at the US Open. Also a champion snowboarder, Hayley was 5th at the US Open Snowboarding Championships.
Hayley Holt first hit primetime on TV ONE's Dancing With The Stars, where she was dubbed the 'H-Bomb' for her sizzling Waltz. In 2007, she won TV2's Treasure Island, and last year travelled to China as part of the celebrity adventure series Shock Treatment.
For Hayley, this was her first time hosting a show, rather than appearing as talent. She admits to a few nerves but says, "I loved the experience, loved being in that role - looking from the outside in - rather than the other way around."
And despite being one of our most googled celebrities - beating supermodel Rachel Hunter for 2008 - she is still just a down-to-earth Kiwi girl who loves coming home.
"It was so great to come back to the sunshine! I have jandal marks - all my London friends are so jealous!"
