Gavin Strawhan - Co-Creator, Writer and
Showrunner
Gavin is one of Australia's more useful exports.
Having written and script edited for Neighbours, Gavin came to NZ
to set up
Shortland
Street
in 1992, and didn't go back&
Since then, Gavin has co-created, executive produced and written
for many series of NZ television.
His most recent work is as co-creator, writer and exec producer of
Go
Girls
(TV2). A third series is currently
in pre-production.
He was also co-creator and/or writer on award-winning series Being
Eve, Maddigan's Quest, Burying Brian, Mercy Peak, The Chosen,
Jackson's Wharf, and Lawless.
Gavin worked on Shortland Street as script supervisor, writer and
producer from 1992 - 95.
He has written for many other series, including The Lost Children,
Interrogation and Outrageous Fortune.
Gavin has also worked in the UK as senior development executive for
Fremantle Media and in Germany for Grundy UFA. While
there, he developed the concept for Interrogation as well as
several long running European telenovelas.
From 2004-2006 Gavin created and wrote two series of Living It, a
children's live action drama series for CBBC in the UK.
He is also a screenwriter for film, with his first feature,
Matariki due for release in 2010.
In his role as development executive and script consultant, he
worked on many film and television projects including Whale
Rider.
