Blake Shelton

Grammy Award nominee Blake Shelton returns to "The Voice" in season seven with the incredible accomplishment of being the coach for three of the first four champions: Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope and Jermaine Paul.

His impressive credentials as a country music superstar were well-established long before "The Voice" came into his life: Shelton is a four-time CMA Awards' Vocalist of the Year and his platinum-selling 2013 release, "Based on a True Story...," was named Album of the Year.

Shelton has earned a host of other awards and nominations, including three Grammy nominations in 2013 for country album of the year, country solo performance and country song of the year for "Mine Would Be You." His infectious multi-week No.1 hit, "Honey Bee" still holds the record for the fastest-selling digital platinum single for a male country solo artist.

Shelton's success was not a slow build, since his self-titled debut album would reach gold. The 2001 disc's top song, "Austin," reached the top of the country charts and started an incredible streak of No. 1 singles. Other top 20 singles from the album were "All Over Me" and "Ol' Red," and all three of those singles helped propel Shelton's burgeoning career.

Over the last few years, Shelton's fame has continued to skyrocket. The 2011 Grammy-nominated album, "Red River Blue," debuted at No. 1, and his latest album, "Based on a True Story …" also topped the charts.

While "The Voice" has increased Shelton's exposure to a national audience in instrumental ways, it wasn't the first time he has appeared on television. He served as a judge on "Nashville Star" and "Clash of the Choirs," and headlined his own Christmas special, "Blake Shelton's Not-So-Family Christmas," which won the Writers Guild of America's award in the Comedy/Variety - Music, Awards, Tributes - Specials category.

Shelton was born, raised and lives in Oklahoma, where he has strong community ties. In response to the devastating tornadoes there last year, Shelton and NBC teamed up on the telethon "Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert." With the help of Miranda Lambert, Reba, Usher, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, the telethon raised more than $6 million for United Way of Central Oklahoma.

"To a purist, Mr. Shelton is a savvy student of tradition. To a would-be outlaw, he's forever adding a wink. He's a star who is only as explicit as you want him to be," said Jon Caramanica in The New York Times. Shelton's passion for country music and his commitment to mentoring his team members from "The Voice" make him an incredible ambassador for country music.
