The seemingly shy Stefan Salvatore constantly resists his bloodthirsty and violent nature because of his love for Elena and his desire for a normal life. He is haunted by his past crimes and struggles with his loyalty to a brother, Damon, who tries to destroy him.

He shows his lighter side when he's relaxed or when he's turned to the dark side and drinking human blood.

How you'll spot him: He's the one with the piercing stare and charming grin that can switch to a scowl in an instant. Damon is the ultimate bad boy - good-looking, witty and charming but also extremely dangerous.

He's torn between his violent instincts and his growing desire to do good. His attraction to Elena and obsessive love for Katherine fuels his every action and sometimes puts the lives of others at risk.
