Kirsten is the doting mother of Seth, spirited wife of Sandy, surrogate mother to Ryan, and devoted daughter of Caleb.
A strong businesswoman, Kirsten has more or less run her father's property development business for many years. This makes her the main bread winner in the Cohen family, allowing husband Sandy to indulge his ideals as a public defender. Until she drafted Sandy into to defend her father against charges of fraud.
Caleb came through the charges alright, but later died of a heart attack, which coupled with the stress of almost cheating on her husband, drove Kirsten to drink.
At the end of last season, Sandy confronted her about her drinking and sent her to rehab.
