Dabney Coleman

Emmy Award-winning actor Dabney Coleman plays the key role of Burton Fallin, Nicks demanding but good-hearted father.

Series creator David Hollander met with many actors, but Coleman was the solid choice for the role of Burton. "His character is a man whos not going to change a whole lot throughout the story," says Hollander, and Coleman possesses the "inspired power" required to play Burton. "Dabney is intimidating, inviting and scary all at the same time."

Hollanders assessment, of course, speaks to Colemans versatility the hallmark of his long and successful career in TV and movies. Having made his mark on television with very noteworthy comedic roles, Colemans extensive list of television credits include Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated starring roles in The Slap Maxwell Story and the acclaimed Buffalo Bill, as well as the comedy series Madman of the People.

Colemans career as a TV regular began with That Girl and continued with the landmark 70s series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Colemans numerous film credits include Tootsie, War Games, Inspector Gadget, On Golden Pond, and Youve Got Mail.
