The Good Word Debate 2011
As part of TVNZ 7s special New Zealand Book Month programming The Good Word Debate saw some of New Zealands best-known writers facing up to an unsettling suggestion about the state of the homegrown literary scene.
Stepping up to argue the moot 'New Zealand Books Deserve Special
Treatment' the debate was staged at Auckland's St
Matthew-in-the-City.
Developed as a spin-off from TVNZ 7's popular books series The Good
Word, the debate is now in its third year, this time playing a key
role in the launch of NZ Book Month, which has moved to March for
the first time.
Three of the stars of The Good Word series lead the cast of the
debate - comedian Te Radar as moderator and novelist Emily Perkins
and journalist Finlay Macdonald as team leaders.
Writers CK Stead, Neil Cross, Steve Braunias and Neil Cross also
feature.
