Michael, 45, is an intelligent, successful defense lawyer.
Michael can be smooth and charming when he wants to be but his underlying personality is one that is tough and tenacious. He is also a risk-taker and a lateral thinker. Unfortunately, he found himself making a lot of money defending the most unsavory elements in society.
At heart, Michael is a caring, liberal man but he had a determination to win, which saw him lose his way with his family. Michael let his stressful work life seep into his home life. The more he immersed himself in his work and the world surrounding it, the further his family slipped from his grasp.
When he is shot in episode 1, Michael makes the decision to put his family back together. He wants his boys back. While it's not going to be as easy as he anticipated, Michael will do anything to get his sons out of there. He's a man that carries a lot of guilt but is determined to do what he can to put it right.
