About The Big Bang Theory

TV2's favourite group of geniuses are back for a new series, in All New The Big Bang Theory.

Last season, Penny and Leonard were dating then they broke up (no thanks to Will Wheaton!) and in a crazy turn of events Sheldon found his perfect match... has the world gone mad?

Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) are brilliant physicists, the kind of beautiful minds that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women.

All this changed when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moved in next door.

Sheldon, Leonards roommate, was quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow Caltech scientists Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar).

However, Leonard saw in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities...including love. You dont want to miss the new season of TV2s comedy series Big Bang Theory.

Johnny Galecki stars as Leonard, the uber-geek physicist who lives with his equally intelligent but socially dysfunctional best friend, Sheldon (Jim Parsons). Unfortunately, their genius hasn't made it any easier for these men to interact with people, especially women. However, with Penny (Kaley Cuoco), the free-spirited beauty living next door, things are slowly beginning to change.

Johnny Galecki was attracted to the off-beat nature of The Big Bang Theory and the portrayal of his character, Leonard.

"I liked that they [Leonard and Sheldon] were socially lost without being losers. As for my character, Leonard, I'm very interested in exploring the hardships of an unattainable crush. I don't generally get to play those roles. I'm usually cast as the romantic lead's brother or best friend," he says.

While Leonard has his eyes on a romantic rendezvous, his friend Sheldon is the geekier, at times irritatingly funnier man of the two.

Jim Parsons tells TV.Com of his character: "A couple of things I really enjoy about Sheldon - he's so sure of himself, and frankly he has every right to be because he is right a lot of the time, but the wonderful thing is how his assuredness allows him to set himself up for the fall when the rug is ripped out from underneath him."

"I really like that his lack of knowledge about some niceties in a social situation allow him to say some of the most blunt, sometimes horrific things that a normal person would never do and he gets away with is because it's never out of nastiness, he's never trying to make somebody feel bad, he's always looking at it scientifically, and the truth is the main thing as far as he's concerned" he continues.

Creator Chuck Lorre (Two And A Half Men) agrees of Sheldon, "There's an innate charm and sweetness to Jim that allows us to make him as obnoxious as we want, and we can get away with it. You know, there's an innocence to it that comes through."
